Has anyone used the yahoo messenger phone service?

I want to use the yahoo messenger, to call people but is it really good, does it work, and can they really hear you! In other words is it just like using a phone?

Try Skype.com. It's free to call anywhere in the U.S. till the end of the year. I have been using it for months and no problems. As for yahoo, when i talk to my friend who has it we have to hang up and try again cause she can't hear me.
Reply:I've used Yahoo! Messenger with Voice to make free internet calls from one PC to another PC. It works fine, and the sound quality is actually slightly better than a telephone, but:





-- both you and your receipient will need to have headsets or good speakers to take advantage of the software's capabilities, and;





-- it sometimes drops calls, unexpectedly.





I have not used Yahoo! Messenger to make PC to telephone calls, which costs money. I have used Skype's for-pay Skype Out service for this purpose and was not overly impressed with the call quality. Skype's free PC to PC phone capabilities are excellent, and Skype has a large installed base outside of the U.S.
