How do I get rid of messenger altogether - it's a mess to deal with and freezes continually - who needs it?
I can't get an answer from Yahoo on how to disconnect Messenger. It's causing all kinds of problems with other programs. Microsift tells me Yahoo has a fix, but Yahoo either doesn't know about it or won't tell me. The guys in India have no idea what I'm talking about.

ok go to the start window and fiind the control panel open it and look were it says "add or romove programs". a sreen will appear with al the things u have installed then look for the messenger n click on it once and it will say " change/remove" click on this and follow instructions to remove it hopes it helps :)

yes you can... what you do is you look up in the left hand top corner for the recent chat blue icon and click it... everything you talked about should appear... if that doesnt work you can go to contacts at the top of you main messenger list and go to archives... hope this helps... peace out

I have several problems, and so does my grandma. We hear what sounds like short scratching sounds, static that is real loud, then it stops, and goes again. Which would be a lot easier, but unfortunately, this junky old computer is not connected to the internet and doesn't have a working cd burner. I have several problems, and so does my grandma. We hear what sounds like short scratching sounds, static that is real loud, then it stops, and goes again. It'll repeat part of what you say 4 or 5 times. And the picture freezes sometimes. We both have Logitech web cams. Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks!

I couldn't tell you how in messenger. In email you can just check the header information to get the senders IP address. You'll have to check the help file for whatever email program your using to help you display the header info. The problem is the person abusing you may have a dynamic IP address so it could change at any time. In some instances such as colleges the IP address can change everytime their computer is restarted or modem power cycled. I would suggest blocking their email and blocking them on your messenger. If it gets to the point of being illegal contact law enforcement or your ISP.

I just downloaded YM for Vista. I have 6 different profile IDs under my sign-in ID. I always have my MSN Live messenger set to sign me in automatically, both on the opening sign-in page and in Tools/Options, and I always Exit and never ever use the Sign out option but every so often I have to sign in because the "Sign me in automatically" box on the sign-in page has had its tick removed. Ask the person to email you. Once you receive an email from the person, you can get his IP address. When you have his/her IP address you can go to several sites to lookup what country it is from..
Also, do not bother checking out their yahoo profile. It is very probable that their profile says they are from New York, Miami, San Francisco, etc. but their IP address is coming from Nigeria..

You'll have to check the help file for whatever email program your using to help you display the header info. The problem is the person abusing you may have a dynamic IP address so it could change at any time. In some instances such as colleges the IP address can change everytime their computer is restarted or modem power cycled. I would suggest blocking their email and blocking them on your messenger. If it gets to the point of being illegal contact law enforcement or your ISP.

How come Windows Live Messenger won't remember me?
I checked the option remember me and everytime i turn off the computer and turn it on windows live messenger won't remember me. I think its because my brother put a halo skin on it. I took it off and it messed things up. I uninstalled windows live messenger and removed everything that has to do with windows live. I downloaded it again and it still doesn't remember me.

I want to download msn messenger onto my mac. and when I press instal, a window pops up and says WLinstaller.exe. whatever that means... When I click on "view in finder" it brings up the finder window. so i click on that.. when that menu pops up, its in a total different language, but in english at the very top, it says this program cannot run in DOS mode. what do i do?

You don't need to delete the old version of messenger... this is done automatically when you install the new version of messenger.

Sometimes due to server problems offlines do not work properly and the people do not get them. I once was not able to get offlines for a couple months and only on one Yahoo ID then it started working again. The other ID's worked fine with offlines. So the best way is just to ask the person if they got the offline, the next time you see them online.
