How to verify where Instant Messenger user is located?

I am trying to verify where an Yahoo IM user is located. Is there any way of doing this?

Ask the person to email you. Once you receive an email from the person, you can get his IP address. When you have his/her IP address you can go to several sites to lookup what country it is from..





Also, do not bother checking out their yahoo profile. It is very probable that their profile says they are from New York, Miami, San Francisco, etc. but their IP address is coming from Nigeria..
Reply:www.psacake.com is a site that will tell where the server is that the end user is connecting to NOT where they are located....I tested that site and found that I'm connecting to a server in Marina del Rey, CA........well guess what?! Reply:I never said it would return your home address. The key is that it gets the correct country. In this case the poster was concerned with scammers from Nigeria. Someone from Nigeria wouldn't be able to connect to a server in USA. Report Abuse

i dont think we can get the ip address as easily,as the box is controlled by yahoo and no way i know that can tell us the users ip address.

Reply:You can't locate the person on messenger. But you can see his/her profile where its made (location) may be its helps.
