Is there a yahoo messenger application that you can download for your Iphone 3G?

If there is where can I download it from? There doesn't seem to be one in the apple apps store. Would it keep you connected all the time?

Is there a yahoo messenger application that you can download for your Iphone 3G?
You're kidding, right?

Yahoo! hasn't even fixed the significant bugs in the Yahoo! Messenger for Mac...and you're thinking they'll actually create an iPhone one?

Applications cannot run in the background. AIM has it where when you tap the home button, it keeps you signed on, and everytime you get a message, it queues it up. When you return to AIM, it sends those messages. Therefore, you could get messages waaay late depending on how often you return to AIM.

When Apple released the iPhone 3G, they also announced that in September, the firmware will update to support push.

This "push" method is better than running the background. When you run Yahoo! Messenger in the background, people are signing off and on, and the buddy list changes. But why do you care about the buddy list? You have it in the background! So it's a useless waste of battery and performance drain.

Push makes it so while it quits the application, you can still get IMs while it's in the background.

The most common example: SMS. You don't need to have your SMS application open to get texts.

This will come in September.

As for Yahoo! Messenger, MobileChat ($2.99) is coming out (which will support AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, Google Talk, profile editing, ___landscape mode___, etc.).

It will be the first to have Yahoo! support on it (unless Yahoo! is fast...which they aren't...there's not even a mobile Yahoo! Answers site...)
