I dont want to use yahoo messenger anymore, but everytime I turn on my laptop it appears on the screen to sign in, I want to get rid of this
I cancelled my email but yahoo messenger keeps showing on desktop, I want to get rid of this?
Go to control panel
then add %26amp; remove programmes
you will find all your programmes listed there and you can uninstall it altogether
i did same as messenger was causing all sorts of problems

I just created a new MSN Messenger account (new email address and username/password) and after only 1 minute a boy found my MSN account and started messaging me! I had this problem with my last MSN account, that's why I created this new one. But unfortunately it didn't keep the boys away. Please help me, how do they find my MSN address?

When using Yahoo IM, I find that the faces start to disappear and red Xs appear in the box on the messenger?
I then have to close yahoo and restart my computer then it works for a while then sometimes the letters stop they go invisible...what is wrong here?

This isn't an answer, but I have had the same problem. It works for a while, and then after some use the emoticons fail to show up, and instead a box with a red X, or sometimes nothing at all. I've also noticed in on photo sharing where initially it works, then after a while it stops. I've been advised to untinstall and then reinstall. This has posed a problem too. Refer to my question, and you'll see the same thing. You may learn more there.

This is all provided you have downloaded it of course. If all is well with the firewall you should get a login box when you click on the icon. If that fails, try re-installing it. I had a problem once and had to re-install the latest version.

Webcam does not work on Windows Live Messenger?
I am using Windows Live Messenger ver 8.1 and Win XP.
My web-cam is correctly installed, as I am able to use it correctly BOTH with Windows Live Messenger as well as Yahoo Messenger.
Problem is that on Windows Live Messenger, I am not able to view the webcam of other person. AFter the other person authorizes my request for Starting Webcam, a box open but it keeps on displaying " Web Cam Sponsored by ... ", and no picture comes on display.
This phenomena happens with my all chat partners , but the same partners are easily able to display their webcams to me on Yahoo Messenger.
Any suggestions ?

When I have webcam conversations with my contacts I get the webcam sponsored by screen and then the computer stops for a bit and then I can see the other person's webcam.
It might be that you computer crashes while this message is on the screen, so wait for a bit and see if it will start to work.
Another cause of this problem could be your router or modem.
In your router/ modem settings you need to open up the following video conference ports:
TCP 9000-9999, 5004-65535 UDP + 80
Instructions on how to do this can be found on your router/ modem's website.
You could try a re-install of messenger, but as with all of my suggestions, I can't guarantee that it will fix your problem.

I'm actually not entirely sure, but I think a messenger bag should be worn a little on the higher side so that it's resting on your hip (easy access). I think anything higher than that is a bit much. I don't think it should be low enough so that it hits your behind or even your legs (which I've seen people do). It looks kind of silly and I think that might impede walking and cause it to bounce more. You probably want to wear it in a comfortable position where it won't move/bounce too much while you're walking.
As far as how far back you should wear it, I think it should be towards the back side of your hip. It stays out of the way that way I think, but still stays accessible. It shouldn't be so far back that it's resting on your backside.
If anything, I think where you wear your strap is the most important part. People like to wear their messenger bag on one shoulder, but the strap should be pulled over your head so that it forms a diagonal across your chest and bag. This makes sure that the bag doesn't fall and it's more helpful balance-wise.
I hear a lot of things about backpacks being better than messenger bags, but I think it all depends on how much you're putting in your bag and if you're wearing it properly.

Go to your control panel and click on 'Add/Remove programs'. See if yahoo messenger is still in the list. A lot of times even though you think you have removed a program, the program still remains in the registry.
Reply:If you can still launch it then you didn't delete it. Read below for proper way to uninstall yahoo messenger. A note to consider, just uninstalling yahoo messneger probably isn't enough to get rid of your virus/worm. You need to run various scans to make sure your computer is clean. Make sure to turn off system restore until you have your computer cleaned and then you can reboot and turn it back on. I am including another page on yahoo answers that tells in more detail about getting rid of the messenger viruses/worms.
CUSTOM UNINSTALL OF YAHOO MESSENGER
I would suggest uninstalling yahoo messenger completely through add/remove programs. If you are using a version below 8.0 then make sure you choose custom uninstall. 8.0 versions and above do not have that option.
Then navigate to your Program Files on your hard drive. Find the Yahoo Folder. Open the yahoo folder and find the Messenger folder inside. Delete this.
If you have a trusted registry scanner use it now. If you do not skip this step because you can mess things up if you do not know what you are doing. I use Ccleaner. This isn't an answer, but I have had the same problem. It works for a while, and then after some use the emoticons fail to show up, and instead a box with a red X, or sometimes nothing at all. I've also noticed in on photo sharing where initially it works, then after a while it stops. I've been advised to untinstall and then reinstall. This has posed a problem too. Refer to my question, and you'll see the same thing. You may learn more there.

Click the "Security" tab.
Click the Internet (globe) icon and click the "Custom Level" button.
Scroll down to "Scripting."
Enable the following:
* Active scripting
* Allow paste operations via script
* Scripting of Java applets are all enabled
Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
Note: Restart Yahoo! Messenger and you should start seeing text in your IM windows again.

When using Yahoo IM, I find that the faces start to disappear and red Xs appear in the box on the messenger?
This isn't an answer, but I have had the same problem. It works for a while, and then after some use the emoticons fail to show up, and instead a box with a red X, or sometimes nothing at all. I've also noticed in on photo sharing where initially it works, then after a while it stops. I've been advised to untinstall and then reinstall. This has posed a problem too. Refer to my question, and you'll see the same thing. You may learn more there.
