is there a way the either the ISP or the system administrator will be able to detect that i am using yahoo messenger through the office lan.
If i use the yahoo messenger through office lan using proxy, will the ISP be able to detect?
In all likelihood they can see anything you connect to, proxies and chat programs alike. The only way to be completely hidden from filters is to use an SSH tunnel because it is encrypted. Network filters can not see encrypted data through a tunnel. The only drawback is that you have to use programs which are SOCKS compatible for the tunnel to work.
Reply:Depending on what your company uses to monitor stuff like that but ya they probably can. If they do not mind you having your yahoo mail open you can use the messenger built into that. It will look like you are just surfing that your yahoo mail. I monitor an enterprise class network and you would be amazed/surprised at what we can tell our users are doing.
Reply:Excellent proxies to unblock blocked websites!
