How can I disable the yahoo messenger program in my home PC?

Select start --%26gt; control panel --%26gt; add/remove programs.





You should have a program called Yahoo Applications. Click on it to open. You should see a list of all Yahoo items. Uncheck messenger. Restart computer. Messenger is disabled but available if some day you decide you want it.

you can disable it through registry. go to software-%26gt;Microfot-%26gt;Windows-%26gt;Run


create new DWord value called Disable then in value of it put the full path of the program you don't wanna run or disable.


like C:\Program Files\Yahoo\YPager.exe
Reply:Click on the start button and select run.


In the text box type msconfig and click ok.


Once the window has loaded, click on the startup tab and uncheck programs you do not want to start up anymore.

If you want to turn off it go to the drive that your OS win has installed on it find Messenger folder right click on it select rename and plus off to the end the messenger word press Enter now it is turn off .

Reply:Uninstall it from yahoo messenger...... if you mean making yahoo messenger useless.... then open Folder where you installed yahoo Messenger suppose program files in c drive... open it and Cut dll Files... of Yahoo and Paste Somewhere else... and Yahoo Messenger is Disabled


To enable them again paste that Dll files to default directory or Folder
Reply:It is simple if you know little about registry hacks.


Try this: -


1.goto start%26gt;run%26gt;type this "regedit"


-----This should open a registry editor.


2.After clicking on 'my computer' key EDIT%26gt;FIND the key named "runonce".


3.Use F3 to enhance the process as the editor may show several such keys.


4.NOTE: whenever you find this key, look a step above on it, there is always a key named "RUN".%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;Open this key by clicking on it.


5.Find all those startup programs that you don't want, delete their respective keys. BEWARE while modifying, any erroneous operation can hang your machine instantaneously.


6.For your program "Yahoo pager" I believe tere must be a key in this format "....../...../...../ypager.exe". DELETE it.


7.Your job is not over, find all such 'run' keys and make a manual scan to all of them.


8.LOG OFF %26gt; LOG ON.


9.You see there isn't any Yahoo messenger popping out.
